Seniors Helping Seniors
Cap Services Seniors’ Hub is operated by a small team of dedicated staff and large team of carefully screened volunteers, many of whom are seniors themselves. These individuals are committed to enriching the lives and promoting the independence of frail seniors, who wish to remain in their own homes, but need a little help to do so.
The Seniors’ Hub has designed and operates a number of successful programs. These programs help seniors to extend their social networks, make new friends, remain connected to their community and have a good time with lots of laughter.
Programs are provided at little or no fee and transportation is provided where needed. Donations are gratefully accepted to help offset program costs. (We will provide a tax receipt for amounts over $10).
The following is a list of the programs currently being offered by the Seniors’ Hub.
- Monthly Afternoon Social Activities
- Coffee Groups
- Short Distance Walking Groups
- Volunteer Tele-Friends
- Grocery Shopping with Doris
- Small Discussion Groups
- Volunteer Driver Services
- Special Seasonal Events
- Small Group Outings

A 15-seat bus named “Doris Too” is an integral and essential member of the Cap Services Seniors’ Hub team. It is particularly beneficial, since experience has shown that about 90% of participating seniors have physical and / or health problems, which restrict their ability to use public transportation, including HandyDart. Driven by trained volunteers, “Doris Too” provides the majority of transportation for outings and programs.
The Seniors’ Hub publishes its Spokes newsletter three times a year. Established by seniors in 1995, it is written by staff and seniors and distributed to over 800 members of the community.
Cap Services has dedicated over 40 years to the seniors in North Vancouver and we would be happy to answer any questions you might have about our services.
