We’re here to HELP!
The Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) offers the North Shore community a short-term loan of mobility and personal care aids to people of all ages who are recovering from surgery, illness or injury.
The HELP Program provides short-term loans (of less than six months) of medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, bath seats and benches, commodes and toilet seats, crutches and canes, and bed handles. The program alleviates the pressures that come along with injury or illness, assists with mobility issues, allows people to return home from hospital earlier and supports those in palliative care to spend their final days at home.
Equipment is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to availability. A referral form, from a regulated healthcare provider, is required for all equipment loans and should specify the equipment needed and any applicable measurements, including height and weight of equipment user. The client is responsible for arranging the collection and return of the equipment, clean and in good repair. The referral form for this service can be found at www.redcross.ca/bcreferral.
